Each resource includes 12 colour and 12 black and white flashcards with symbols. Sheet 3 asks the children to draw the symbols or paste the pictures under the words. A welcome addition to your topic on Clothes for SEND pupils and suitable also, for EYFS and KS1. The first page is a colour poster to share and talk about with your class with all things related to Clothes. This includes how to care for clothing such as washing, ironing and storing. The second page is a black and white version of the poster for children to colour in. Pages 3,4 and 5 are worksheets where children write the words under the pictures. These are mostly taken from the poster. Finally, page 6 is a word wall containing some key vocabulary that children may use in their writing, discussing or labelling of clothes and related topics. “Our World and Where We Live,” encourages children to explore and appreciate their local environment and culture, and promotes understanding and empathy of others by facilitating comparison and discussion of diverse global environments and cultures. The resource includes a complete lesson plan including aims, resources, activities, assessment and homework. There is a colour disucssion sheet to introduce different aspects of where we live and the local environment. Children can colour in the black and white version of this sheet and overwrite the sentences. The next worksheet asks the children to draw and write about the different aspects and an example sheet is provided that the children can use as a reference or stimulus. *Boardmaker licenced. * The Boardmaker symbols can be a great resource for SEND students. They are a set of picture symbols used for communication with individuals who are nonverbal, have limited speech or who benefit from pictorial / visual input. They can aid in understanding and expressing ideas around the topic of Our World and where we live.

A speaking and listening activity where children observe the children in the pictures closely and then answer questions about them in their preferred mode of communication. There are 20 questions with answers. Children can write out the answers or an adult can scribe for them as required. Follow up with children drawing themselves with things that are important to them and talking / sharing with the class / group.

A phonics activity for KS1 or SEN pupils. Here are 5 worksheets where children use the picture cues to sound out and write the words. The words are of 3 and 4 letters. There are also 3 blank template sheets for you, or the children, to make more of their own.

Here are 4 worksheets in black and white for children who are moving up or on to a new class or school. The questions will help them to think about things that are important to them from this year, as well as look forward to the next step of their learning journey. The picture and shape outlines provide a writing scaffold with minimal writing for those who would find this difficult. Suitable for SEN pupils. Children can draw, write key words, captions or sentences as appropriate for them. Questions include important dates, people, happy thoughts and visits, three best moments, 4 feelings and what to put in a first aid kit when moving on.

A set of communication cards for young children or SEND children. There are two versions . These children shown are all boys (Girls version to follow in future). Set 1 and 2 show boys sharing how they feel when unwell. Set 3 and 4 shows pictures of what can be done to support them. The last page is a blank template for you to use.

This resource links with SEN, Healthy Lifestyles, Looking after Ourselves, People who Help us, Me, Ourselves, Feelings and Literacy: reading, writing and speaking and listening. There are two communication boards - I don’t feel well and At the Hospital. I don’t feel well - this board shows children displaying a range of emotions when they are unwell. At the Hospital board - this board shows words of things/people that you might find at the hospital. There is a matching worksheet for each board where children write a word or phrase beneath the 12 colour pictures. Page 5 asks children to think of words and phrases a doctor might say to them and complete the boxes by writing in their own words. Page 6 shows a nurse instead of a doctor. Again children fill in the empty boxes with their own words or phrases. A useful resource for children who may be experiencing medical problems or may have to visit a hospital. Use together with social stories.

A set of resources with a Senses theme suitable for SEND pupils and KS1. Boardmaker symbols are included. Page 1 shows sample resources included. Pages 2/3 - A Sensory Table outline to use with the small cut out colour card collection shown on page 3. Pages 4 -7 are sets of 6 cards related to each of the senses: sound, smell, touch, taste, sight and a set of shape cards included. Cut and laminate the cards and children can use them to indicate what they see, hear, smell, taste or touch. The cards can be cut up and used together with a collection of the relevant objects that are easily accessible. You could use a feely bag, a blindfold or a box with armholes cut out for children to reach inside. The next page is a set of questions to cut out and use. A fun with food activity where children design and make their own pizza using symbols and words. Page 1 is an outline planning pizza that can be used for children to write words on of what they would like on their pizza or draw pictures. Page 2 shows 2 sets of symbol cards that can be cut and matched or items cut out and added to the outline template to make the pizzas. Boardmaker licenced.

Add to displays too. Great to help children become independent at finding and tidying away equipment. Good to show as a speaking and listening activity on the Smart Board. Works well for children with special needs who may more readily recognise photographs.

This is a fun way to boost children’s reading and writing confidence. First share the poster and children can ‘read’ this. There is a colour and a black and white version. Next, children can use the template worksheet to write / draw what they love, like and dislike. There is a table showing 36 pictures that could support children with their thinking / answers.
